How to write introduction in IELTS essay ?

First impression is the best impression so a good introduction will give the examiner a good impression of your writing. The following tips help you to make an impression that lasts.

  • As the first step answer the question asked in the essay do not try to write general information about the topic.
  • Do not forget to write the thesis statement because it is the most important part of the essay.
  • Give a hint about what you are going to write in the essay in your introduction.
  • Write the facts that you know about the essay topic do not try to make the essay interesting this could lead you to making mistakes it is okay to write a boring essay with fine vocabulary.
  • Always write the essay in academic style do not use informal words.
  • Your introduction should include three parts paraphrase the question, write the thesis statement and finally give hints about the points you are going to include in the essay.
  • Paraphrasing is writing the question using other vocabulary forms of the words in the question.
  • Thesis statement is the most important sentence in the essay this shows the examiner the core idea of your essay.
  • You should now tell the examiner the points you are going to describe in the essay in brief.
