Types of questions in IELTS reading
The type of questions in reading is the same in both academic and general training the only difference being the content of the topics. The following are the type of questions asked in the IELTS exam.
- TRUE/FALSE/NOT GIVEN in this type of questions you should identify whether the information given in the question is in the given passage or not if it is present exactly in the passage then the answer is TRUE, if the information is not in the passage or it is the exact opposite of the information in the question then the answer is FALSE and if the information is not found in the passage then the answer is NOT GIVEN.
- SENTENCE COMPLETION in this type of questions you will be given gaps in between the questions and you should search for answers in the passage.
- MATCHING HEADINGS in this type of questions you will be given different headings and you should match the headings with the sentence that matches the headings from the given passage.
- SUMMARY COMPLETION this is similar to sentence completion in this type of questions you will be given passages with gaps in between and you need to fill the gaps with words from the passage.
- MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS in this type of questions you will be given four choices and you have to choose the right option.
- TITLE SELECTION in this type of question you will be given titles and you should match the title with the information that matches from the passage the title could also be names from the passage.
- COMPLETION OF DIAGRAMS in this type of questions you will be given diagrams and you should match the diagrams with the matching information from the passage.
- SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS in this type of questions you should answer the questions regarding the details from the passage.
